Overview

Viand Mercantile curates vintage and new homewares on Fore Street in Portland. Founder Jenny Bravo ran pop-ups for years before opening a permanent shop, and came to our First Pier team ready for a brand built to last.

Brand work sessions defined what makes Viand different: a love of unexpected pairings and the thrill of discovery. That became a bold red-led palette, playful patterns, distinctive type and a logo of a duck holding binoculars.

Then we put the brand into customers' hands. One shopping bag is laid out so the handle becomes the binocular strap. Tissue paper mixes grapes in a bathtub with pine cones and seashells. Die-cut hang tags are shaped like the walking duck and the state of Maine, and the duck marches along the shipping tape on every package that leaves the shop.
