Who We Are

Helm Digital is a small but mighty digital marketing firm based in Portland, Maine, supporting regional lifestyle, higher education, design, nonprofit, and food and beverage brands. We are welcoming, inquisitive, and thoughtful people striving to institute a realistic work-life balance while producing top-quality work for clients we care about. We have an office in downtown Portland, but are flexible and offer hybrid or remote work from the Southern Maine area as well.

We founded Helm on the principle that long-term relationships and trust make for good work, that problems need to be structured before they can be solved, and that thoughtful, steady progress trumps instant gratification. We collaborate best with clients who know their business and respect strategy and process.Our team of 15 includes masters of strategy, experienced developers, graphic designers, creative thinkers, project managers, content creators, avid communicators, patient listeners, and professional problem solvers. We’re also decent people, actively involved in our community, and easy to talk to. We believe in doing good work, and also value and protect our time away from work.

What We Do

We provide strategic integrated marketing solutions to like-minded partners who value relationships. We help brands find their authentic voice and think strategically so they can grow their business. We draw from a deep well of experience to help our clients with three distinct offerings: integrated ecommerce by First Pier, a shelter-focused creative agency, Vernacular, and a nonprofit-focused agency, Wayfound.

Our work involves everything from establishing new marketing strategies to branding and identity to web development and beyond.
