Isa Bistro

A new website and photography for a West End bistro, built to capture the feel of the room and make reservations, takeout and menus easy to find.

Overview
The client

Isa is a cozy neighborhood bistro in Portland's West End. Owner Suzie Perez and chef Isaul Perez serve an eclectic, seasonally driven menu inspired by the places they've been and the things they love.

The challenge

Isa's dining room is intimate and personal, but its website didn't show it. The owners wanted a web presence that captured that atmosphere and the food it's known for.

They also needed the site to do more work. Guests had to be able to book a table, order takeout for curbside pickup and see what was on the menu that day without calling the restaurant.

Our approach

We designed the new site around the feeling of being in the restaurant, inside and out.

  • Photography direction. We directed a photo shoot that captured the warmth of the space along with a few signature dishes, like the house-made tagliatelle bolognese.
  • Clear paths to book and order. We put online reservations and takeout ordering up front so guests could act from any page.
  • Menus that are easy to keep current. We set up a standing sample menu alongside day-of menus the team could update as the kitchen changed.
The results

The new site set the tone for the passionate, familial space the Perezes built. It gave guests a real sense of the room before they arrived, and it clearly showed what Isa offers, from the sample menu to the day's dishes, with reservations and takeout a click away.

In their words

The takeaway

For a restaurant, the website is often the first table a guest sits at. Strong photography and simple paths to book and order did more for Isa than any amount of copy could.
